Geena Wilkinson’s work explores the banality of domestic life through traditional fine art mediums, often using food to reflect on human temporality. She graduated cum laude with a BFA from UCT’s Michaelis School of Fine Art in 2016 and later returned as an Andrew W. Mellon Scholar to complete an Honours in Curatorship with a first-class pass. A top 100 finalist in the 2015 Sanlam Portrait Award, Wilkinson focuses on preserving the intimacy of everyday social spaces. Her carefully rendered objects function as still-life snapshots—memorials to perishable confectionary pleasures that rarely enter the archive. Through this nostalgic lens, her work evokes the sensory immediacy of memory, transporting viewers back to moments of quiet, personal delight.
