Phillippa Duncan is best known to the African Tails family as their auctioneer and former curator for fundraising events. In 2025, she embraced the iPad as her new studio, creating works that capture the immediacy and intimacy of drawing and painting without the constraints of traditional materials. Trained in printmaking at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, Duncan’s practice once revolved around chemicals, acid baths, and the tactile rituals of the print studio at Hiddingh Campus. That same meticulous attention to process now informs her digital work, where each line, mark, and colour is chosen with deliberate care. Her iPad drawings blend spontaneity with a sense of reflection, revealing an artist navigating both tradition and innovation. Through this medium, Duncan continues to explore the subtle rhythms of her creativity, offering works that are at once personal, playful, and resonant with the textures of her artistic journey.
